Top certification organizations catering to what or to whom is the question.
I do believe after reviewing the texts from the ACSM that if one is preparing to enter the rehab or cardiovascular field that the ACSM cannot be beat.
However if ones career or goal path is one of working with athletes on a strength/agility/power, etc level than it is my personal opinion that one must choose between the NSCA and NASM. Though my NASM materials have not arrived yet, I have reviewed some of the concepts and I now believe that they do have a more progressive approach to program design as opposed to the NSCA, who as pointed out in the roundtable has been sitting on their hands so to speak, being king of the hill for awhile. I have met some very poor CSCS' and some very good ones.
ACE I hear is a joke. Not really sure if that is a good sign or bad one.
I own the NSCA material for the CSCS exam and will recieve my NASM CPT info soon, I believe both are quality and it is a draw between them in my opinion (or if you have time and the inclination, get both )
Hopefully that makes some sense!

Good post Andrew.
Your observations are correct. NSCA has been sitting back becoming complacent as NASM just ran right past them and blew them away.
Look for the NASM-PES certification to blow away teh CSCS. It is strength & conditioning version of their cert.
Andrew, recruit more people for this forum!!! _________________ John Izzo, BS, NASM-CPT

If you go to the NASM website, they should have information there of when the next conference is in your area. _________________ John Izzo, BS, NASM-CPT

Thats great to hear! I think bottom line for all fitness professionals -from newbies to veterans- is do you have the passion to continue learning? I don't hold very significant certifcations (NASM is teh only one to me...and I have had it for years), but I have a undying thirst to learn more and more. Thats what makes the difference between good trainers and meidcore ones. _________________ John Izzo, BS, NASM-CPT
